LET US REMEMBER OUR FREEDOM MOVEMENT
On April 6, 1930, after having marched 241 miles on foot from his
village to the sea, Mohandas K. Gandhi arrived at the coastal village of
Dandi, India, and gathered salt. It was a simple act, but one which was
illegal under British colonial rule of India. Gandhi was openly defying
the British Salt Law. Within a month, people all over India were making
salt illegally, and more than 100,000 were sent to jail; many fell
victim to police violence, but none retaliated or even defended
themselves, that is non violence.
Bose advocated complete
independence for India at the earliest, whereas the All-India Congress
Committee wanted it in phases, through Dominion status. Finally at the historic
Lahore Congress convention, the Congress adopted Purna Swaraj (complete independence) as its motto. Bhagat Singh's
martyrdom and the inability of the Congress leaders to save his life infuriated
Bose and he started a movement opposing the Gandhi-Irwin Pact. He was
imprisoned and expelled from India. He formed Indian National Army, for the cause of our freedom .
Shaheed Bhagat Singh arrested on 29 May to 4 July 1927 - in connection with Lahore Dussehra Bomb Case (25 Oct
1926) with Gopal Singh Pannu DSP, CID Lahore. He was hanged on 23rd March, 1931 at 7 PM. in Lahore Jail.
